Kibon I-Jang 기본 이장
“Kee-Bohn Ee-Jahng”
9th Geup Poomsae
Basic Form #2

Kibon 2-Jang is not a Recognized Poomsae, meaning that it is not made or standardized by the Kukkiwon. Many schools come up with their own version of the form with some choosing not to have any Basic Forms at all. At NB TKD Academy Basic Form 1 and 2 are changed up every once in awhile but generally keep the same core movements.

Performance Notes

  • Rhythm / Tempo:
There are no rhythm or tempo variances in this Poomsae, everything is performed with a very even beat.

  • Order Of Operations:
    Look → Aim → Step → Pivot

  • Look:
Keep your gaze at eye height in the direction of your technique. Never look at the floor or the ceiling, and look where you are turning prior to moving.

  • Aim:
Remember that every technique always has a 1st Position, Path and 2nd Position.

  • Step → Pivot:
Moving from one stance to another is done with a step and not a stomp. The arm technique should be completed at the same time as the pivot.

  • Upward Block:
This block ends at the center line of your body, one fist in front of the forehead.

  • Outward Middle Block:
This block ends with the fist at the outside edge of your body and at shoulder height.

  • Inward Middle Block:
This block ends with the fist at the center line of your body and at shoulder height.

  • Beginning / Ending Position:
You should end at the same spot you began.

  • Movement:
The stances and footwork are all the same as Kibon Il-Jang / Basic Form 1.
