Established in 2016 NB TKD Academy offers training in the Korean martial art of Kukkiwon Taekwondo. With a focus on realistic (simple and effective) self-defense techniques, modern competitive patterns as well as full contact sports competition, we offer challenging and rewarding training for all levels of athletic aptitude from beginner to advanced.
Quality instruction builds quality martial artists. While some other schools and styles are focused on pushing students from white belt to black belt as quickly as possible regardless of skill level (some in as little as 2 years of practicing twice a week) NB TKD Academy has cultivated and maintained an extremely high standard for practitioners of all ages and levels.
Rank promotions and tournament participation (in both patterns and fighting) must be earned by hard work in practice and dedication to the never ending pursuit of self improvement - not by just showing up.
The school logo for North Battleford Taekwondo Academy is comprised of the Taegeuk (태극 “Teyh-Goog”) symbol altered to include 8 flowing points (4 red and 4 blue) overlaid with the words Tae Kwon Do (태권도 “Teyh Gwohn Doh”) written in the Korean alphabet, Hangul.
The 8 points represent the 8 elemental trigrams associated with each of the Taegeuk Poomsae (colour belt patterns):
Sky, Lake, Fire, Thunder, Wind, Water, Mountain & Earth.
